Control the light before anything else
The single biggest variable in a skin photo is lighting. Soft, even daylight — facing a window, no direct sun, no overhead bulb — gives readings you can compare. The scan screen shows an alignment hint and encourages soft daylight; treat that as part of the method, not decoration.
Pick a rhythm and keep it
Weekly or fortnightly scans at the same time of day, before applying anything, give a clean series. Any plan covers that: Weekly includes 7 AI scans, Monthly 30, Monthly Pro 100 per period. Reopening older results never uses a scan.
Change one thing at a time
If you add a serum and a new cleanser in the same week and your water reading moves, you have learned nothing about either. Change one step, keep it for two or three scans, then read the progress panel: each reading with its change versus the last scan, and a one-line summary of the direction.
Read trends, not single numbers
A single reading depends on the night before, the weather and the photo. Three or four in a row tell you something. The progress panel shows how many scans you have tracked and since when — "5 scans tracked · since 12 Jul" — so you know how much history the trend rests on.
This guide and the app offer general skincare wellness guidance, not medical advice. Skin scan readings are not a diagnosis. If you have a skin concern, consult a dermatologist.
Steps
A tracking routine that takes about a minute a week.
- Choose your scan spot and time
Pick a window with soft daylight and a time before your morning routine. You will use the same spot and time for every scan.
- Take the baseline scan
Open Face scan, line up inside the guides until the hint reads aligned, and take the selfie. Review the water, oil and redness readings and the condition label.
- Log your routine as usual
Keep checking off AM and PM steps in the Routine tab. Consistency data sits next to your readings on the home screen.
- Change at most one step
If you want to test something — a hydrating serum, dropping an exfoliant — change only that, and note when you did it.
- Re-scan weekly in the same conditions
Same spot, same time, same framing. Open My Skin Status and read the Progress panel: each reading's change versus last scan and the summary line.
- Decide on the trend after three or four scans
Keep the change if the trend and the notes support it; revert if not. Ask a dermatologist about anything that concerns you rather than scanning more.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I scan to track progress?
Weekly or every two weeks, in the same light and at the same time of day. More often adds noise rather than signal.
Can I see my previous scan photos?
Yes. Each result keeps the selfie it was made from, and you can revisit earlier results without using a scan.
Are the readings medical measurements?
No. They describe how your skin appears in the photo and are general wellness guidance. They are not a diagnosis or a clinical measurement.
SkinCare AI provides general skincare wellness guidance only. Skin scan results are not a medical diagnosis and the app does not treat or prevent any condition. If you have a skin concern, consult a dermatologist or another qualified professional.
